MAY 2008

  • MAY 9: Ligonier's Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Walkers will "Walk Around the Clock" at Weller Field to raise funfds for the ACS. Residents gather at 3PM. Details at 1-800-ACS-2345.
  • MAY 10: Stage Right presents the Magic Tree House live "Carnival at Candlelight." It will be presented at the Ligonier Library. Reservations can be mae by calling (724) 238-6451.
  • MAY 10: Laurel Valley Tree Farm Flea Market in New Florence. Begins today and continues through September on the second Saturday of each month. Open to the public at 9AM.
  • MAY 16: Coffee House at The Mill Creek. Live music, coffee, desserts. It's from 7PM-10PM. Proceeds benefit The Valley Youth Network.
  • MAY 16-23: Birdwalk - an exhibition of one-of-a-kind, handmade birdhouses to be displayed in places of business and to be later auctioned to benefit Powdermill Nature Reserve.
  • MAY 24: The Ligonier Country Market opens and will continue Saturday mornings through the season. Farmers set up at the Watershed field at the end of West Main Street near The Mill Creek.
  • MAY 25: Free Sunday Evening Band Concerts Begin 7 p.m. on the Bandstand.
  • MAY 26: Memorial Day Parade - 10:30 a.m., Service held on the Diamond.
  • MAY 30: Action For Animals Auction at Greensburg's Mountainview Inn.

JUNE 2008

  • JUNE 1: Free Sunday Band Concert - 7 p.m. Bandstand
  • JUNE 7: St. Michael's Country Fair - 1st Saturday of the month at St. Michael's Church in Rector, PA
  • JUNE 7: The annual Spring Garden Party at the Southern Allegheny Museum of the Arts in Ligonier on 711 South. It begins at 4PM. For details call (724) 238-6015.
  • JUNE 8: Free Sunday Band Concert - 7 p.m. Bandstand.
  • JUNE 9: Holy Trinity Golf Tournament. Stop into Holy Trinity School for details.
  • JUNE 13: Community/School Picnic at Idlewild Park
  • JUNE 14: Antiques on the Diamond - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Celebrating it's 26th year! 70 quality antique dealers set up shop around the center of town.
  • JUNE 19: Ligonier Valley Library's Summer Reading Club begins. K-6 welcome. Details at (724) 238-6451.
  • JUNE 20-21: The 6th annual Bluegrass Festival. Route 271 in Waterford. Fest benefits The Ligonier Volunteer Fire Department, Station 44.
  • JUNE 21-22: It's Children's Weekend at the Compass Inn Museum! Special hands-on activities. Ages 3 and up can do open hearth cooking project, dip candles, churn butter, weaving and play early American games. Details at: (724) 238-6818.
  • JUNE 27-28: America's first Tour De France-styled Cycle Race zooms through Ligonier. 20 teams, 15 nationalities. Volunteer for the event on the web site www.procyclingtour.com.

JULY 2008

  • JULY 6: Free Sunday Band Concert - Kiski Valley Community Band -
    7 p.m. at the Bandstand.
  • JULY 13: Free Sunday Band Concert - Moonlighters Band - 7 p.m. at the Bandstand.
  • JULY 19-20: Living History at Compass Inn Museum - Special Sundays.
  • JULY 20: Free Sunday Band Concert - Ray Ryan's New Orleans Riverside Band - 7 p.m. at the Bandstand.
  • JULY 24-25: Weeders and Seeders Flower Show - Community Room in Town Hall.
  • JULY 25-26: Summer in Ligonier Arts and Crafts - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will have Arts and Crafts on the Diamond, entertainment, food, sidewalk sales, (buggy rides Sat. only) and fun activities for children.
  • JULY 25-26: Ligonier Valley Writers Conference - 724-537-3341.
  • JULY 27: Free Sunday Band Concert - Allegheny Brass Band - 7 p.m. at the Bandstand.

  • LIGONIER VALLEY RAILROAD MUSEUM is open Saturdays at 9AM. On St. Clair STreet across from McCracken Funeral Home.
  • LIGONIER LIBRARY RE-READABLES USED BOOK STORE is open at the Library. Books, CDs, DVDs, and more.
  • NEW FLORENCE LIBRARY QUILTERS meet the forth Tuesday of every month. Bring your own project to work on.
